Mercedes-Benz 300 SE rally car, 1963 information

The Mercedes-Benz W 110 (four cylinder version) and the W 111 (six cylinder version) series are the only Mercedes-Benz models with modest tailfins. In Germany the series are named "Heckflosse"models. The W 110/ W 111 series succeeded the
W 105, W 180 and W 128 model series in the year 1959.
The cars were built with a unitary bodywork structure and the bodywork grew in every direction in opposite to the earlier series. The W 110/ W 111 models offered a huge amount of space in the interior and boot.
The W 110 models were available with four cylinder petrol and Diesel engines: 190/ 190D, 200/ 200D. The W 111 models were available with seven cylinder petrol engines: 220/ 220S/ 220/SE, 230/ 230S and the top of the range 300 SE. The type code reflects the cylinder capacity; 220 stands for 2200 cc.
In the year 1963 an automatic gearbox became available as optional equipment. In 1964 disc brakes at the front wheels became standard equipment in combination with a dual circuit servo brake system. Concerning the four speed manual gearbox the buyer was given two options: floor shift or column shift.
The "S" and "SE" models, SE with petrol injection, can be recognized by their higher and larger front lights, the presence of a lot more chrome bright work and luxury. The top of the line 300 SE featured air suspension.

Mercedes-Benz 300 SE rally car, year 1963. Colour green with a beige rally interior. This tremendous Mercedes-Benz rally car was fully and perfectly rally prepared, the automobile is in very good condition! The entire suspension has been up rated with polyurethane bushings and much has been prepared and overhauled. Overhauls: engine, air-suspension, steering, differential, rear axle, drive shaft, brakes, petrol pump, starter engine, generator, clutch etcetera. Renewed: shocks all round, petrol tank, Stainless Steel exhaust etcetera. This fantastic rally car comes with a set of spare parts and
spare tires and wheels.
